What Benefits Do Fleets Gain From Geofencing?
15 Oct 2019Your fleet company invests a great deal of money and time in acquiring fleet machinery, vehicles and equipment it requires for getting the job done. Having peace of mind that these invaluable assets are always exactly where they should be can be an asset in itself. Fortunately, now you can have that peace of mind. With a tool called geofencing through GPS fleet tracking, you can enhance fleet operations and improve fleet risk management remotely and in real-time.
What is Geofencing?
A geofence is similar to a real fence, except it’s a “virtual” perimeter of a geographical area you select. It’s a service provided by a variety of software, devices and apps that uses GPS tracking for triggering an action (like a text message notification) when one of your assets leaves or enters the virtual boundaries of your selected location.
Your windshield replacement fleet represents your business across town and everywhere they drive. Which is why GPS fleet tracking is so important for your fleet and your business. GPS fleet tracking for your window replacement fleet may be one of the most important investments you make this year. These are just a few ways GPS tracking can enhance your entire fleet while building a better reputation for your business.
Improve Customer Service
Customer service is something that many businesses are allowing to fall by the wayside at their own peril. It is more important than ever, in light of instant gratification and widespread web reviews, to provide excellent customer service. GPS fleet tracking can help by allowing you to do the following:
- Arrive in the correct location thanks to frequently updated maps and excellent direction.
- Provide accurate time windows for your workers to arrive.
- Deliver prompt responses when accidents or emergencies occur.
- Dispatching closest available vehicles for timely arrivals.
These things all work together to reduce customer wait times, ensure prompt service, and avoid holding customers up from going about their days unnecessarily.
HLDI Reveals List of Most Stolen Cars

Two large cars, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and the Dodge Charger HEMI which are known for their powerful engines, made it to the top of the Highway Loss Data Institute’s (HLDI’s) list of most likely to be stolen vehicles.
Both of these cars have a claim rate for whole-vehicle theft that’s over five times the average for 2016 through 2018 models. The Infiniti Q50 which is a midsize luxury sedan does too. Almost all 20 models that have the highest theft rate are either pickups, luxury vehicles or those with big engines.
The regular two- and four-door Dodge Charger is another target. It’s marketed as “America’s mid-sized muscle car” and ranges from almost 300 to over 700 horsepower.
Pricey vehicles with horsepower, bling and pop culture appeal attract thieves, according to Russ Rader, HLDI spokesman.
