Teen Driver Technology
8 Sep 2021Everyone gets a little worried when teens get out in a car all by themselves for the first time. It gets our hearts going. We want them, as well as others, to be as safe as possible out there on the road.
What is teen driver technology?
Teen driver technologies are built-in systems to coach young drivers to develop safe habits. They come with various features, including speed alerts. Both Chevrolet and Ford currently offer this technology in their newer vehicles, but if you don’t have a car with it for your teen to drive, you can install GPS teen tracking that offers similar benefits.
Chevrolet has taken this idea and concept and turned it into an opportunity with teen driver technology. Chevrolet has an available system that actually helps YOU coach your new driver. You don’t even have to be there in the car with them. You can be at home on the couch while you teach your driver how to drive. It lets you set a limit on music volume, a speed alert, and many others. At the end of the day, your driver will have an in-vehicle report card to track your teens driving.
Ford has introduced their teen driver technology with MyKey. Here are a few of its features:
- Safety belt reminder
- Low fuel warning will activate earlier
- Satellite Radio restrictions
Both Ford and Chevrolet are in this market and have the same ideas but with different technology. It works and is going to help teen drivers be a little bit safer.
The Future
Ford and Chevrolet are not the only manufacturers who are getting ready for this new technology to be popular in every car. Volkswagen and GMC are also creating and offering their own versions of teen driver technology. Technology always continues to grow in vehicles. It is hard to believe that radios did not exist in them and now look – every car basically has its own computer. In the future, it’s likely that this technology will be the new standard for the automotive industry.
GPS Tracking for Teens
One method of increasing safety with teen drivers is GPS tracking. Parents can utilize GPS tracking for teens to alert them if their child is driving too fast, brakes abruptly, or even goes out of the boundaries that have been set for them.
